Entergy Corp. has announced plans to close four system operating centers, including one in Pine Bluff, in 2015.
The utility says the 100 people work at the Pine Bluff center, which is responsible for the movement of electricity and monitoring for possible overloads. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (http://is.gd/DeBSeQ ) that the utility will also close operating centers in Beaumont, Texas; West Monroe, La.; and Gretna, La.; in 2015.
Entergy’s Diane Tatum says the lease on the Pine Bluff building is up in 2015. She says the decision to close the center was purely financial.
The closure does not affect Entergy’s utility and customer service center in Pine Bluff.
Tatum says the closed centers will be consolidated into two facilities in Little Rock and Jackson, Miss.
