As part of its ongoing efforts to help enhance customer service reliability, Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has completed upgrades on circuits that serve the municipalities of Califon, Clinton Township, Clinton Borough, East Amwell, Holland Township, Lebanon Township, Readington Township, and Tewksbury Township in Hunterdon County.
The upgrades included replacing wire, installing additional lightning arresters and fuses, and adding animal guards and other protective devices that are expected to help limit the frequency and duration of power outages.
JCP&L plans to spend more than $2.5 million in 2013 on similar construction projects designed to upgrade 90 circuits throughout its northern and central New Jersey service areas.
“Circuit upgrades are an important part of the work we do each year to help improve our service reliability,” said Tony Hurley, vice president of Operations, JCP&L. “As part of this process, we evaluate circuits throughout our 13 county service area and focus on installing the latest and most advanced equipment on our system to help provide our customers the quality service they expect and deserve.”
These circuit upgrades are part of JCP&L’s overall $200 million investment in 2013 designed to help improve service reliability and help meet increasing demand for electricity.
