National Grid Electricity Rates To Plummet This Spring

National Grid has good news for its Massachusetts customers: Expect lower electricity bills this spring.

The energy company says that starting May 1, the average residential customer will see a bill that’s roughly 23 percent lower than their current bill, which amounts to about a $25 savings.

After April 30, the price per kilowatt hour will drop from 13 cents to 8 cents, National Grid says.

“As we emerge again from winter, a season that consistently brings us higher energy prices, we are pleased that our customers can look forward to lower bills,” said Marcy Reed, president of National Grid in Massachusetts, in a statement.

A note of caution: National Grid says the dropping prices aren’t permanent and bills will likely go up again next winter, as supply prices are still high overall.
